I took a look at your site, and I noticed that each post’s Sharing buttons linked to a post on another site. I suspect because of the Page Links To, maybe? I will need to do further testing to see if I can reproduce and to see if there’s a way to fix it on our end, but it’d help me if you describe exactly how you create your posts. I.E., you create in the post editor, and include a URL in the Page Links To box, correct?

Hi Richard,
Thank you again for the time you spent on my site and this issue. I really appreciate it.
Indeed, I use the plugin ‘Page Links To’ to make some posts link to a URL of my choice, instead of their WordPress post URLs. I believe it won’t be difficult to reproduce this bug as I was able to recreate it – just by installing both ‘Jetpack by WP’ and ‘Page Links To’ plugins – on different WP installs of my own and locally on my computer.
The process to create these “special” posts is very simple: I select the “Add a custom URL” radio button within ‘Page Links To’ metabox, then insert an URL, then save the post.
As I said in my first message, everything works well with the official buttons, this issue appears only with text/icon only or text+icon sharing buttons.
Richard, I hope you will be able to fix this on your end.
Thank you again for your kind help!
PS : You will see “normal” WP posts (without thumbnails) at the very bottom of my homepage. In this case, no problem of course.
Hi! So I’ve tried to reproduce it, and you’re right, the sharing button pops up the page linked to in the meta box, rather than the post. But, that’s to be expected, no? The Post as such doesn’t have a URL on your site anymore, it’s URL is the site linked to in the mea box? What exactly is the desired effect, then? That the sharing button will allow you to share the external site’s URL?

Hi Richard,
Thank you for your message. You’re right, I expect that Jetpack sharing buttons will allow me to do what the official buttons do: share the external site’s URL, exactly the way Digg do on their website.
Do you think there is a fix for Jetpack sharing buttons to behave the same way as the official buttons?

Hi again Richard,
I’ve just installed both this plugin and this plugin. As you can see on my live test website, no problem at all with these two plugins.
I really hope you will be able to find a fix because I have a large preference for Jetpack sharing buttons.
Hope this helps!
Hi! I did a bit more testing, and found that it only happens with the unofficial buttons as you said. I opened an issue for it here:

Thanks for the report!
