    Hello,

I have been receiving the below error while trying to connect Jetpack to Wrodpress.
The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site [HTTP 404].

I have tried to reach my xmlrpc.php file, but could not. I also contacted my host and confirmed that there is no current blocking to reach that file.

Could you please suggest what to do?

    My web site is:
    http://www.sanatabasla.com

    Thank you very much

    Regards

  • Hi there,

Thanks for getting in touch with us. A couple of suggestions below:

    1) Can you see the /xmlrpc.php file at the root of your WordPress installation when accessing your site via FTP?

    2) Do you use any security plugins that may block access to this file? If so, could you try to disable them?

Let me know how you go.

    Cheers,

    Hello,

Thanks a lot for the response.

    1) I never reached my site through FTP. Is there a way I can check this file through my Cpanel?

    2) I deactivated the below plugins (which I thought could affect security) and tried to connect to Jetpack again, but it did not work. What is a security plugin specifically? I do not think there are any other plugins I use that will affect any security issues.

I am expecting your response and support still.

    Thank you very much

    Regards

    Update:
As a response to your first question:
I have found the below files under the below folders in my CPanel:
    /public_html/xmlrpc.php
    /public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/modules/videopress/class.videopress-xmlrpc.php

    Hi there,

Thanks for getting back to us. Even though the file appears to be in your public_html folder, it’s still not showing when trying to request it:

    http://www.sanatabasla.com/xmlrpc.php

Could you please ask your host if they restrict access to this file?

You want to see this response when trying to request the xmlrpc.php file:

    jetpack.com/xmlrpc.php

As for security plugins, common ones could be either WordFence, Sucuri, iThemes etc.

Let me know how you go.
