    Hello Jetpack-Team,

I’ve been using Jetpack for ages and had everything set up for me to work. Now I’ve been asked to reconnect to my wordpress.com account and configure Jetpack. When I click the button to “configure Jetpack” I’m asked to confirm the wordpress.com account I want to use, so I click “Accept” because they’ve got the right one that I’ve logged in with right there, and it tries to connect to it.

That connection fails first of with the error message “cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate”. I have a let’s encrypt cert on my domain. When I click “try again” it does seem to connect and redirects me to the Jetpack page to choose a plan… after I’ve scrolled through a lot of plan suggestions I find the free plan at the very bottom and click “Start for free”.

It redirects me back to the WordPress admin page where I see the exact same “Configure Jetpack” dialogue that I saw before. When I try again I go through the same cycle, again and again.

So far I’ve tried to delete and reinstall the plugin and made sure that the xmlrpc file is accessible. Now I’m out of ideas and hope you guys can help me out 🙂

    Thank you!

    Hey @fyn,

Our connection debugger is reporting the same SSL certificate error that you’re seeing:

http_request_failed: cURL error 60: SSL certificate problem: unable to get local issuer certificate

Only your hosting support team can fix this. Please contact them and ask them to configure the site’s webserver to supply the entire SSL certificate chain.

Once they’ve done that, you should be able to connect Jetpack properly.

I’ve included a link below where you can see more details about the site’s certificate; feel free to pass this on to your host:

Let us know how it goes!

Excellent, thank you for the hin, Jen. As the message disappeared when re-tried I thought it might not be a real issue. I included the chain in my certificate and it connects properly now 🙂

    Hey @fyn,

That’s great news! I can confirm that everything works perfectly now on Jetpack, and your SSL certificate shows a great A+ grade 🙂

You should be all set now! I’m going to mark this thread as solved, but feel free to open a new one in case you have questions or need more help. Cheers!
