We were running on an older version of WordPress, utilizing the Jetpack publicize feature to Facebook. Everything was fine until today when it wouldn’t send over the image, and we also noticed that all our previous posts up until about Sept 2013 were missing their images on Facebook as well – meaning they didn’t use the image in the post but what I would consider a “default image”.
We upgraded to 3.8.1 and ran the Facebook Object Debugger. Our posts were including an image that was about 165px wide, so it was choking on the requirement of min size of 200. We upgraded the size of the image and still no go. We deactivated and reactivated the Jetpack plugin and now the image is being included – at least it is not providing errors in the debugger.
So now the question is: how can we get the image to show over on our Facebook page for all the previous posts, rather than that default image that they all reverted to? Is there any way that the posts – specifically the image – can be refreshed without deleting the post and resubmitting? If not, why would the image revert on the Facebook side going back to September? I am happy to go back and increase the image in all the posts if I know that at some point they will feed to Facebook. We tested on the most recent post, and it still shows a default image.
FYI: I am not using any other plugins besides Yoast breadcrumbs and Google Analytics at this time. We posted as recently as of Friday and the image was fine on Facebook, as well as were on all the posts back to Sept.
