You are right: QFI is not for featured images of categories. That is not a standard WordPress feature, so you need the other plugin.

Do you have hundreds of categories and want to bulk set a featured image for them? Or what was your purpose?

    Hi Martin,

I have about 15 categories and preset featured images.

I use posts by email, for information like ‘Local Council News’ which the local council send to me by email, which I then send to WordPress (postbyemail).

Most times I don’t include a image in the email, and I like to have the featured images set automatically by the plugin.

Rule 2. – If activated the rule is used automatically while saving a post to set the first content image – if available in the media library – as the featured image of the post. If the post has no content images the next rules will be applied.

    Thanks you for making QFI

I just digged into the Jetpack Post-by-Email code. It seems intransparent how that module works. So I will not implement a compatibility with that and QFI soon.
