Hello

This morning I got an email entitled

"Jetpack Plugin Security Update for http://domain-name/: Please Upgrade Now"

So I logged into the back-end of my site expecting to see a plugin update available for Jetpack to take me from 2.9.1 to 2.9.3 but there wasn't one. Why isn't an available update showing up in my dashboard?

Not to be deterred I visited http://wordpress.org/plugins/jetpack/ and downloaded the zip file for 2.9.3

But when I tried to upload the zip file I got the following error message:

Installing Plugin from uploaded file: jetpack.2.9.3.zip

    Unpacking the packageā€¦

    Installing the pluginā€¦

    Destination folder already exists. /var/www/vhost/domain-name/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/

    Plugin install failed.

    Return to Plugins page

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  2. I've deleted your duplicate topics. Once again your posts get flagged as spam and need to be released by a moderator. Please be patient and someone will release your posts.

Regarding your problem have you attempted to manually update that plugin via FTP or via a ssh session?

The dashboard should work but it's really important to get that plugin updated soon.

    Hi Jan

I apologise for being impatient, I have never ever posted any spam on WordPress and I never would! So I dont understand why I am flagged???

Thanks for the tip, if I unzip the file, FTP it up, can I simply replace the old jetpack folder with the new one? no database changes are needed?

    Thanks very much

I don't believe that going to version Jetpack 2.9.3 will require any database changes and that should get you past this security issue.
