[Resolved] Jetpack loading extra versions of jQuery

  • Why on earth would you be loading your own copy of jQuery from CDN when in at least a dozen of these support forum topics you recommend users against doing so yet your not only loading it from a CDN but loading a duplicate copy altogether even though one is already properly queued and loaded.

This screen also shows that you are somehow double loading several other scripts not only from the sites host but from the CDN as well.

Ive used Jetpack on many sites before and am now rethinking that altogether. I love what it offers but this seems a bit hypocrytical after reading several topics where you chastized users for loading jQuery from google CDN etc.

Hope this is just a bug on my end somehow but i’m not seeing how that could be as the second copy of jquery can’t possibly be called via wp enqueue functions.

    Howdy, Daniel.

I suspect what’s happening is that in an iframe loaded from WordPress.com, such as a like button or comment form, a copy of jQuery is being loaded. As it’s an iframe, it can’t share the parent window’s version (or for that matter even know whether the parent window has jQuery loaded), so it would need to load its own to use it.

In your web inspector, you should be able to trace back what tag is making the request and confirm, or if you’d like to post the URL to your site in question, I’d be happy to look through and confirm for you.

    Hey George,

That makes perfect since. I figured i had to be missing something obvious.

    Thanks for the quick response.
