Hi there, we have been having some trouble getting our 2 posts per week to auto-post to our Facebook Page. We have disconnected our Facebook page from Business Manager, since that seemed to be a jetpack/ FB conflict. And even though the sharing is set to automatic in our .org site and looks like it will post as we write the drafts since the page box is checked, it does not. We have been manually going into the .com side of the site to click “share” from the post, after it’s been published so that our facebook page gets our post updates. We only have this one connection with Jetpack, and only share things 4-10 times a month ( So we’re well below our “sharing quota” on Jetpacks Free plan). After a post is published, the FB box becomes grayed, and unchecked, and another jetpack credit has been used.. but nothing shared. Any thoughts on what else we can try to fix here? Since the page is clearly connected, clearly selected on draft posts before publishing and we’re under the publishing limit? Thanks for the help.

  • Good morning,
We have been having exactly the same problem for 10 days when everything was working before. We have tried everything, reconnecting, disconnecting…
He shares well because he has a credit, goes gray but the publication on facebook does not work. I specify that it is to share the planned articles.
    Thank you for your help.
I’ve been using this function for more than 3 years and I’ve never had the slightest problem except for two or three times when I had to reconnect jet to facebook.

    Hi @rochellemariah

Can you send us the URL of a post where this has happened to you? I see for some of the recent posts, Jetpack Social is returning the error

Determined that this facebook connection has been marked as skipped for this post.

If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form. If you choose to reach out directly, please include a link to this thread.

Hi there, it’s been all our recent posts. Not sure why it’s returning that the facebook connection has been skipped error. All posts remain checked in draft/ and schedule status until it posts, at which point it doesn’t send to FB and the box looks grayed out, unchecked. But there aren’t any posts we want “skipped”. Here are the last few. It’s been happening for a while now.

Is there something else that would cause them to be skipped? ( the non-posting does take away credits from our jetpack posting bank, so it must not really be skipping anything?)

Hello, just wanted to share another post today, didn’t automatically post to FB, and we manually went into the WordPress side to share it with jetpack social. Same behavior as before. Draft scheduled post has block clicked and connected to FB. Once published, the box is grayed out, the post was never shared and unable to be shared through WP admin. Happy to send screenshots, if I am able to upload them. Thanks.

    Hi @rochellemariah

If you can share screenshots, that would be very helpful. You can send a screenshot using these instructions. There are some suggestions for services you can upload screenshots to and then you can share those links here.

Once we have those, we can look into it further.

Hello there, included on the pdf are a few screenshots. A post in draft, where the jetpack FB connection is happily marked. A post now published ( previously with the FB checked) now grayed out, never shared.

And our connections active on Jetpack and connected to FB.

Thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi @rochellemariah,

    Thanks for sharing those screenshots.

I’m still seeing that “facebook connection marked as skipped for this post” error that @bruceallen shared earlier for recent posts in our logs.

Not sure what’s going on here. Could you try completely deleting and reinstalling Jetpack on your site to see if that helps resolve the issue?

Okay we’ve deleted and reinstalled and reconnected. We have a post autoposting to FB tomorrow, and will let you know if it works. Thanks.

Hi there, just an update. After deleting, reinstalling and reconnecting, the share to FB still did not work. On another thread we had an issue with a plugin conflicting with the latest jetpack + classic editor+ wordpress versions. Not sure if this is the issue.

    Hi @rochellemariah

    Thanks for the continued testing.

As a next step here, we’ll need you to do a plugin conflict test.

The Health Check plugin’s “Troubleshooting Mode” is a good way to do this. It allows you to make changes to your site without them reflecting on the frontend. You can download that plugin here:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/health-check/

Once you’ve installed and activated the plugin, you can go to Tools → Site Health:

    • Select the Troubleshooting tab and then click Enable Troubleshooting to automatically disable all plugins and add a new Troubleshooting Menu item in the toolbar at the top of the wp-admin dashboard.
    • From here, you can enable and disable plugins and change the theme for your site, but without affecting normal visitors to your site.

Within Health Check, please disable all plugins other than Jetpack and test again. If it works as expected, you know that the issue is with one of your plugins. Please enable your plugins one at a time, testing after each one, until you encounter the issue again. Once you do, you will know which plugin is causing the issue. At that point, you can either leave it disabled or reach out to the developers for a fix.

Let us know what you find out.

Thank you for sharing this troubleshooting option. I tested it this morning, with only Jetpack enabled. Tried to publish a post ( scheduled) to the connected Facebook page, in the block editor, with jetpack sharing toggle button turned ON, to share to FB connection. Did not post to FB. And when I went back to the post the toggle button was off again. ( Originally I thought it may be the classic editor plugin… but as Jetpack was the only plugin enabled in the troubleshooting test that can’t be it.) Any other thoughts? This is a new problem, as of mid-January…

    Hi @rochellemariah

Thanks for the additional information. I’ve asked our development team to take a look at this and we’ll let you know as soon as we have an update.

Thanks for your patience as we continue to look into this.

    Hi @rochellemariah

For your next post, could you try posting without scheduling? In that case, does the post share to Facebook properly? This will help us determine if the issue is with the connection.

Assuming that the connection works, you have likely hit a bug where connections added after a post is scheduled are skipped. We have a task to fix this, but for now, the workaround would be to:

    • Go to each post’s editor and toggle Facebook off and back to on.
      or
    • Trash the scheduled posts and reschedule them.

Let us know what you find out.
