Jetpack – Custom CSS – Add a Left Sidebar

I am currently using the Grey Opaque theme by H.-Peter Pfeufer, which only contains a right sidebar. I don’t want to modify this theme in case he updates it. Instead I’d like to use the Custom CSS feature in Jetpack to add a left sidebar. Can anyone provide a code sample? Thank you so much!
