 * Working on my site after 2.5+ years. I have updated the theme and all of the
   plugins.
 * I attempted to update Jetpack (I believe it controls some of my social media
   buttons that are now garbled) but it won’t connect. It says “cookie check failed.”
 * I already went into the wp-content cache in FTP and deleted the cached pages.
   No change.
 * Any suggestions?
 * The page I need help with: _[[log in](https://login.wordpress.org/?redirect_to=https%3A%2F%2Fwordpress.org%2Fsupport%2Ftopic%2Fjetpack-cookie-check-failed%2F%3Foutput_format%3Dmd&locale=en_US)

 * Hi [@clobbergirl](https://wordpress.org/support/users/clobbergirl/)
 * After running some tests, it looks like there may be an outdated or incorrect
   security token on your site causing this problem.
 * To fix this issue, can you please deactivate and delete Jetpack entirely, and
   then reinstall it, as described here:
 * [https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/#reinstalling-jetpack](https://jetpack.com/support/reconnecting-reinstalling-jetpack/#reinstalling-jetpack)
 * *Please note* you shouldn’t lose any data (including stats and followers), but
   your settings will be reset so you’ll need to set them again after reinstalling
   and reconnecting.
 * Let us know if that helps!

 * Tried uninstalling and deleting Jetpack several times. No change; still getting
   the cookie error message.

 * I noticed Yoast SEO is also saying “cookie check failed” now that I’m trying
   to set it up again, so this has to be an issue that’s affecting several parts
   of the site.

 * Hi there
 * That error is generally caused by caching issues. Can you clear any caches you
   have on your site and/or check with your hosting provider if there is any server
   level cache that might need to be cleared, then try again?
 * If that doesn’t help, I’d suggest asking in the general WordPress forum since
   this seems to be affecting other plugins as well as Jetpack:
