Support » Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com » Jetpack Contact form and comments: no email received

Hi there. Visitors leave comments and contact me via the jetpack form, but i don’t receive any mail.
The site was installed via Plesk, and i receive Plesk’s notifications every single day from the server, so i guess that its not a provider issue.
Installed both Check Email and Email-log plugins, and got no useful help from them: mail is sent, but never delivered, and not in the spam folder…

    Any help?
    Ty

It sounds like your hosting provider has disabled PHP’s mail() function, which is used by WordPress to send you comment notifications, or notifications about new users registering on your site.

This is a common safeguard employed by hosting providers when they suspect that another customer on the same server is sending spam emails directly from the server.

Another alternative is that PHP’s mail() function is still active, but spammer activity from the server has already caused any email sent from it to be blacklisted. This would result in the emails being sent, but never received by any email address with basic anti-spam capabilities.

You can check this by leaving a comment on your site and checking if you receive an email. Another alternative would be to use the Health Check plugin and sending yourself a test email from the plugin’s Tools tab to see if it works.

If you didn’t receive a test email, you could try using an SMTP plugin to configure your WordPress site to use your email’s outgoing mail server instead of PHP’s mail() function.

Well, i have the SMTP plugin installed, if i leave a comment or register a new user, i receive mail notification.
Also, i have Check Mail plugin and my test mail is received correctly.
The only thing that’s not working is the contact form.
    [contact-form to='[removed by moderator]’ subject=’Richiesta contatto per CittadinanzAttiva Toscana’][contact-field label='Nome' type='name' required='1'/][contact-field label='E-mail' type='email' required='1'/][contact-field label='Sito web' type='url'/][contact-field label='Tema' type='select' options='Indica il tema del tuo messaggio...,Ambiente,Consumatori,Diritti,Giustizia,Salute,Scuola,Altro...'/][contact-field label='Messaggio' type='textarea' required='1'/][/contact-form]
And this form doesn’t work even if i change my email address with many different one.

    Hi @mariug62,

if i leave a comment or register a new user, i receive mail notification.

Ah, that’s interesting to know. When the Akismet plugin is installed and activated, every contact form submission will be checked for spam.

General WordPress emails like those sent for new comments or new user registrations aren’t passed through Akismet.

Akismet is the main difference between these two scenarios and sits between the contact form and mail() function. Could you try temporarily deactivating Akismet, then submit another message through the contact form and see if it comes through successfully?

Let me know if that makes any difference.

    Hi.
No, that makes no difference at all.
    Disabled Askimet and nothing changed.
    Im very disappointed.

Do you receive emails if you use a different contact form plugin, like https://wordpress.org/plugins/contact-form-7/ ?

    (@mariug62)

Ok, this is what i’ve found.
    disabled Jetpack ContactForm.
Installed Contact Form 7, and soon the mail issue was fixed, the problem was that Contact Form 7 does not save anything in the database.
So i’ve installed Contact Form 7 Database which save the forms from Contact Form 7.
At the moment all is working: is very disappointing and frustrating that Jetpack is not able to work as intended…
    Thanks
