Support » Plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com » [JetPack Comments] Uncaught ReferenceError: jQuery is not defined

  • It seems that, since upgrading to WordPress 3.5, JetPack Comments is not enqueuing jQuery, even though it apparently relies on it.

Adding wp_enqueue_script( 'jquery' ); to my functions.php fixed the problem, though this is less than elegant as my theme does not use jQuery at all itself.

I tried to reproduce the issue, but jQuery seems to be correctly enqueued on my test sites.

Could you try to switch to a different theme like Twenty Eleven for a few minutes, just to make sure your current theme is not deregistering jQuery to replace it with an old version of jQuery hosted on Google CDN, maybe?

Having the same issue, although my entire backend is mashed, cannot open widget area dropdowns or drag and drop anything, tabbed areas don’t work etc. and so on…

Have activated Twenty twelve, deactivated all plugins, no help. All my sites with various templates and plugins are doing it since updating to 3.5 this morning.

Adding wp_enqueue_script( ‘jquery’ ); made no difference for me.

Stuart, could you go through the steps described in this thread to find out more about your issue:
