Jetpack Carousel showing low res. images (8 posts)

Images in the Jetpack carousel slider are low resolution and too blurred to be useable. Clicking on "View Full Size" gives the proper image.
(Jetpack version 2.3.3 Theme - Suffusion version 4.6.6)
Image size used is 850 pixels.
    Any assistance welcome.

Could you go to Settings > Media in your dashboard, and make sure that the medium or large sizes are large enough to display this image properly?

Could you then try to upload the image to your site again, and let me know if it helped?

    Hello there,
Yes I checked that - thanks, but no further forward. The image size loaded into the gallery was full size - 850 pixels wide. (Medium size in Settings is 450x450)

Here are two links showing the problem -

    Many thanks

I wonder if this could have something to do with your image paths. Could you try to upload a new image, and make sure that the file name doesn't include any size parameters (like 850x566 for example)?

Could you also let me know your size settings for each option (thumbnail, medium, large) under Settings > Media?

Done that and yes, it seems to behave as you suggest.
I uploaded these two new galleries-
http://www.kenbushe2.co.uk/dolphin-jump/ (without size parameters in the image title)
http://www.kenbushe2.co.uk/dolphins-2/ (with size parameters in the image title)

The first carousel works and the second one is blurred....

Size settings (Dashboard> Settings> Media) are
    Thumbnails - 200 x 200
    Medium Size - 450 x450
    Large size - 1024 x 850

    Many thanks

Thank you! We've already logged a related bug here:

I added this thread to the bug report, and I'll let you know as soon as the problem is fixed. In the meantime, I'm afraid you will have to remove these size parameters from your image paths.

P.S.: So close to dolphins, lucky you!

    That's easy enough to do.
Many thanks for solving this, Jeremy.

If it can be of any use, I have one prototype site where a carousel gallery with images containing sizing information appears to work just fine:

A further two sites, however, do display the wrong image in the carousel if file names contain sizing information.

It appears that the system picks-up the smallest of the image's thumbnails in the /wp-content/uploads directory instead of the original one.

One sample post confirming the error is available here. Notice two comparative galleries (access password: weird-carousel):
