Tried to login to a site, got the error about my IP being blocked for security reasons. IP is listed there.

Go to WordPress.com to remedy the situation. They tell me my IP is something different. I whitelist the IP address noted by WordPress.com. Retry, still blocked.

I whitelist the IP listed by Jetpack’s error message, retry, and it works.

However, the IP listed by Jetpack isn’t my IP. I’m in an office with a fixed IP, and confirmed that the 2nd IP (the one listed on WordPress.com) is the actual IP.

Why is Jetpack blocking not-my-IP but still blocking me? Is this a security concern?

    Thanks in advance for help!

This could be caused by your server configuration. Do you use Varnish or another server proxy / firewall / cache box that would show all traffic coming to that site as having the same IP?

If so, could you tell us more about your setup?

    Thanks!

I do use SuperCacher Dynamic Cache. Site is hosted on SiteGround’s managed WP hosting and has a pretty generic setup AFAIK otherwise.

Could you try to deactivate that Caching plugin, and let me know if it changes anything?

That seems to be the issue.

Turned off caching, whitelisted my IP and un-whitelisted the other IP. Got the same message.

Am I fine to whitelist the other IP again? I’d like to both keep the caching going and be able to access the site.

Sure, you should be able to whitelist both IPs. It might also be worth contacting SiteGround to let them know about the conflict between SuperCacher Dynamic Cache and Jetpack’s Protect module. They’ll be able to contact us directly if they need more info!

I also have the same problem.. I was on siteground with a dedicated ip, but moved to another host….Jetpack now blocks me showing my previous dedicated ip

@testedtechs Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look?

Was did resolved? How? Same problem here in shared hosting with OVH. I’m being blocked with several IPs in the error message, but none is my IP. If I whitelist a IP, another one appears in the message. I’ve whitelisted 11 for now.
