Could you go to Settings > Sharing in your dashboard, and make sure the sharing buttons are enabled posts, and your front page if you want them to appear there as well?

Let me know if it helps.

Jeremy, many thanks … that was the problem. 🙂

The weird thing is, I never turned it off!
Do you know why some posts were inadvertently defaulting to off? The default never changed in settings but every post was setting itself to off.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing back. You made my blogging day with a simple solution! By the way, Jetpack is a work of art!

Are there any other admins on your site that may have changed that setting for you? If not, I’m not sure what could have changed the settings. It could be another plugin, or your theme if it includes options to customize Jetpack’s default behaviour.

If it ever happens again, let me know and I’ll take a closer look!

    Hi Jeremy,

It unchecked the Like and Sharing functions again. Here’s what I was doing:
    1) Writing a blog post on my PC
    2) Picked it up from a saved draft and saved it as a draft again from iPhone WP app.
    3) Opened in Chrome and used the online WP admin interface to add a photo. Saved as draft.
    4) reopened later in App again because Chrome crashed.
    5) Published from iPhone app and saw the Sharing and like features weren’t there.

You may be laughing at how many interfaces I use to post. I have good reasons to support each one. I rechecked the boxes in Settings–>Sharing and they came back immediately. I’m offering you this info to process because for a couple weeks I inadvertently had these turned off and as a result, those posts really tanked in traffic and feedback. My hypothesis is that one of these interfaces inadvertently unchecks the Sharing stuff of Jetpack, even when the default setting is to have it in for all posts.
I look forward to your response. Please note that your help with this is much much appreciate and now that I’m aware of the issue, I’ll always verify Ketpack sharing and likes are on. Many thanks.

Could you let me know what other plugins are currently active on your site?

Could you also let me know if you run a backup service, or anything that may save or change some of your site options?

    Thanks!

    Hi Jeremy,

I just found out the problem. When I publish from the iOS WordPress app, the sharing boxes are somehow set to unchecked. Perhaps the app has no field for them and that is why it happens. This is not likely a problem for Jetpack developers but rather the iOS app. Perhaps you both could get together on this? Just a suggestion. Thank you for your help.

Thanks! I was able to reproduce the issue. I’ve let the mobile developers know about it, so they can get this fixed in a future version.
