Jazz Band wesbite is WordPressed

    Just (nearly) completed work on the website for a JazzBand I am involved with, the JazzPack. It’s online at http://jazzpack.org/
    The site is powered by wordpress – used to enter, edit entries etc and display them. I’ve added lots of my own php and some very much modified plugins to get it working the way I want it to – for example creating a ‘hidden’ catagory to hold testimonials, display a random testimonial from that catagory etc.
    Anyway, I’d love to know what you think.
    This is the first site I’ve done with WordPress, and I’m very much impressed with the way it’s coded and the way it operates. It took me pretty much no time to figure out how everything works to a level where I could modify the code and write a few scripts to pull info from the DB etc – I normally find it takes ages to learn how some CMSes are put together. nice work 🙂

    Wow, very nice site!
    Two little things:
    1) The menu. This is my personal opinion, but I think it looks like something from the mid-90’s. Definitely doesn’t look as good as the rest of the site. While I think putting the menu points in “boxes” fits nicely, I’d make the boxes look different, if I were you.
    2) A little quirk: The “About this site” and “Content” boxes at the bottom jump a little the first time I hover over a link; they get moved one or two pixels down (I think). It only happens to the box in which the hovered link is placed (ie. hovering over a link in Contact won’t move About this site, only Contact, and vice versa), and it doesn’t “jump” back again on mouseout and only happens on the first mouseover of each box… sort of strange…
    But still, a very good site! A good representation of your band, I’d say (not knowing your music, of course)

    Oisin: Know what you mean about the style of the boxes, will have to think about that. The info boxes quirk is pretty strange – I can’t seem to spot the problem with the CSS or the XHTML tho (plus they both validate fine so no problems there) Still its not a major problem and I always like to keep a few quirks in the sites I do!
