• I started this original at a previous thread in this forum.

But then the admin came to completely the wrong conclusion and closed the thread
because somehow it seems because he answered then thats it – the original author can’t add to it – how nuts is that.

Anyway the ASSUMPTION that person came to was they thought this error was down to a 3rd party theme. Its not – its happening on ANY theme including the DEFAULT WP ones.

So – here we go again – can someone expain why I am getting these console errors on a 100% clean WP 5.3 install with no plugins and NO 3rd party themes installed?

    http://nocreditcheckvisacard.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Screenshot-2019-11-25-at-23.10.10.png

Thats in FireFox (70.01) and the following is my THEME CUSTOMIZER in Chrome!

    http://nocreditcheckvisacard.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Screenshot-2019-11-25-at-23.09.45-scaled.png

I have over 300 wp sites running on this server and only the WP 5.3 ones are doing this (three in total) and they are all doing the same thing!

So – to recap – there are NO PLUGINS, NO 3RD THEMES – this is a 100% clean install, clean DB everything. Not even any content (except the default).

    This is driving me nuts!

Duda is looking real promising right now! I can phone them!

While I cannot explain why you’re having this error, I can say with 100% certainty that I just fired up a brand new WordPress site on my own server just to test for you, and I didn’t have any such JavaScript errors. Heck, even a throwaway sandbox site I generated at https://www.wpsandbox.net didn’t have any error… as you can see from the screenshot below.

    Screenshot of PRESENTATION (themes) page:

    Screenshot of CUSTOMIZER page:

I have over 300 wp sites running on this server and only the WP 5.3 ones are doing this (three in total) and they are all doing the same thing!

And I have over 500 WordPress websites I host and manage across a dozen servers, and not one of them has this error.

Your problem could be a local issue… your server, ISP, personal PC, and any network(s) along the path. I also see a missing font file form on the public website, so it’s possible something else might not have been installed properly, and you may want to do a fresh installation to test this (if you’ve not done so already).

It’s also quite possible that your particular hosting setup may have helped to surface an unknown bug in WordPress.

    But what do I know?

Don’t forget to have your credit card in hand while phoning them though 🙂

Apparently you can pick a phone and call a company you actually pay money to month after month when you have a problem with the service you’re paying for. How rare is that!

But then the admin came to completely the wrong conclusion and closed the thread because somehow it seems because he answered then thats it – the original author can’t add to it – how nuts is that.

A word of unsolicited advice: WordPress is free software and several people volunteer their personal time here helping people out for free. When you’re asking strangers to take the time they could have spent with their kids to give you free help for a free product, the least you can do is to be civil at all times. Focus 100% on describing your problem, and you’ll always get the help you need. No credit card required.

    Just my 99 cents!

Good luck and Goodspeed with your new project!

    Hi.
If that is not because of themes, it is recommended to try reinstall wp core.

In your homepage, there is a 404 error of Inter-upright-var.woff2, font file for TwentyTwenty theme.
I doubt some files are missing in the installing process.

Before that, I would check if there is no error by setting WP_DEBUG to true in wp-config.php.

    Do

in trying to narrow the issue …

I have just done a 100% clean install of WP 5.3 into another spare domain I had.

How are you doing the installation? Via an installer in your hosting account’s control panel, a package installer, or manually https://wordpress.org/support/article/how-to-install-wordpress/ ?

    Thread Starter vintagegroup

    (@vintagegroup)

    Hello James,

I own my own servers so I do it manually, been installing WP for over 10 years and have done it for 500+ sites.

In this instance I simply …

Created a new blank MySQL DB Schema, set access to the schema for the user with correct priveleges (as I always do).

Then I downloaded the WP package from .org and then upacked it, then edited wp-config.php to added DB credentials, salts, change the db prefix from the default.

Then I once that was done I fired up the site in FireFox (70.01) and ran the standard installation routine.

Once that was complete – I logged in.

Then I checked for errors in the console and got what you see in the images above.

This server is hosting over 300+ sites – I RDP into the server – its running Win Server 2012 R2 with all updates current. Its a 3.4 ghz server with 16GB ram and a 500GB SSD. Dual Xeon. Server is running cool and I also run EEST File Security, MalwareBytes and their Anti-RootKit.

Running IIS 7 and I manage all my DNS zones myself.

PHP Ver is 7.2 (not ready to go 7.3 yet).

Its strange because I have other WP 5.3 sites running on this server which are running perfectly.

Perhaps something is misconfigured on the server? The rest of us in this thread aren’t encountering the issue.

    Perhaps something in mod_security

    Thread Starter vintagegroup

    (@vintagegroup)

I dont see how something can be ‘misconfigured’

I’m doing everything I always do, amd have done hundreds of times before, WP installs correctly.

IIS is set up exactly as every other site.

I domnt know what mod_security is – this is a windows server I think you may be under the impression this is a linux server.

This has only started happening since WP 5.3

My other sites not running on WP 5.3 are fine.

Seems that nobody wants to recognise the issue and instead point the finger back at the environment.

We’d love to recognize the issue, but as we’ve already said, we cannot reproduce the issue in our own environments, and so far your report is the only one I’ve seen.

So, we’re about limited as to what sort of fixes/work-arounds we can offer here, we’re still guessing (as you can see). Normally, those guesses reveal something, but so far nothing.

At this point, I recommend reporting it following https://make.wordpress.org/core/handbook/testing/reporting-bugs/ so you can discuss this with the developers.
