# Javascript enabled – th cells in extra table

 * every time I enable the javascript option and horizontal scrolling it puts the
   thead and th cells in an extra table? Can I avoid this?

 * thanks for your question, and sorry for the trouble.
 * This is caused by showing the tables in expandable tabs. These make it impossible
   for the JavaScript code to calculate column widths.
 * One idea: Can you maybe turn off the “Use DataTables” checkbox to turn off the
   JavaScript features, and instead use the `scroll` mode that the TablePress Extension
   from [https://tablepress.org/extensions/responsive-tables/](https://tablepress.org/extensions/responsive-tables/)
   offers. This works without JavaScript.
