Support » Fixing WordPress » I've exhausted the search feature — integration/The Loop — Still stuck

  • Hello community,

    I want to start off by thanking anyone in advance that may be willing to help with this issue. Communities like this are built around people taking time out of their schedules to help others and that’s a very important thing so thank you! Quick run down, the website I built is a HTML/CSS with WordPress successfully installed on the server.

    I’ve followed this thread:

    and countless others through the search. I made a sub-folder for the blog, I installed a custom theme with a style sheet, header, footer, & index .php files. Clearly, where I’m running into a problem is the php coding as going to merely brings up a completely blank page.

    Now, I’ve been pouring over this stuff for the last 2 days so I’m convinced, I’ve over-thought everything and I’m missing a very and completely obvious step in the process.

    So, dumb obvious question out of the way first, despite the theme and its .php files (which I’ll post the code because I wouldn’t be surprised at all if I flubbed in the coding), do I still need a shell .php file in my root directory to “host” the blog (a blog.php to call on the custom theme files)? Or, if I did it correctly in creating a custom theme (which I clearly didn’t do), should just be a page that mirrors my overall design and has the blog content and I can just link to that through my main site nav?

    The style sheet is a 100% copy of the one used in the root directory but in the theme folder, as well. Ok, code. This is on the header page:

    /* Short and sweet */
    define('WP_USE_THEMES', false);
    <!DOCTYPE html>
    <!--[if IE 6]>
    <html id="ie6" <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
    <!--[if IE 7]>
    <html id="ie7" <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
    <!--[if IE 8]>
    <html id="ie8" <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
    <!--[if !(IE 6) | !(IE 7) | !(IE 8)  ]><!-->
    <html <?php language_attributes(); ?>>
    <meta charset="<?php bloginfo( 'charset' ); ?>" />
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width" />
    	 * Print the <title> tag based on what is being viewed.
    	global $page, $paged;
    	wp_title( '|', true, 'right' );
    	// Add the blog name.
    	bloginfo( 'name' );
    	// Add the blog description for the home/front page.
    	$site_description = get_bloginfo( 'description', 'display' );
    	if ( $site_description && ( is_home() || is_front_page() ) )
    		echo " | $site_description";
    	// Add a page number if necessary:
    	if ( $paged >= 2 || $page >= 2 )
    		echo ' | ' . sprintf( __( 'Page %s', 'twentyeleven' ), max( $paged, $page ) );
    <link rel="profile" href="" />
    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="all" href="<?php bloginfo( './style.css' ); ?>" />
    <link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo( 'pingback_url' ); ?>" />
    <!--[if lt IE 9]>
