• First, the custom post type that is generated is title ‘Product Tabs TEST’, which isn’t so much an issue as is the fact that I can’t create tabs on the fly.

It’s cool creating tabs in the same way you would posts, but what about when a user has hundreds of products and has different tabs for each? You can’t go in and set up a tab for each product, and then manually assign them. It’s just inefficient.

It would be nice , when creating a product to have the ability to simply click + and add a tab , and generate it that way and save it as post meta, instead of in it’s own table as a custom post type.

    Thanks!

    Hi Evan!

    Thank you for your idea.

Usually web stores has a special kind of products (e.g. clothes), or more or less different kind of products assigned to categories (e.g. clothes, ties, shoes), inside a category there are similar products.

In most cases the same kind of products has the same tabs. That is why you have the possibility to assign tab types to Product Categories (product category dependent tab types).

We think when you have hundreds of products, and dozens of product categories this functionality help you keep order, keep the same kind of products comparable and document a structured way. It is also important to ensure that buyers can find the same information on the same place for every similar product.
If you have thousands of products and create tabs individually for each, your webstore may become unstructured.

However if you really would like to create different tabs for every single product, you can do this. Simply create Tab1, Tab2, Tab3, Tab2 tab types generally, and you can enter the custom title (label) individually in case of each product on the edit product page.

Can you write us what kind of products requires this functionality in your case? This information help us to understand better this request. (You may write it to info@webshoplogic.com if this information is not public.)

In the future we may implement a repeater field for individual tabs as you suggested, click on “Add Tab” or “+” button. In the meantime you can use the method described above.

    Thanks for your idea.

    Regards,
