• I am totally over my head here. I’d say I’m scr__ed except I don’t want to use that language here, but it’s true. Things are so messed up and I am so frustrated and lost and don’t have a clue what to do. Totally confused.

I couldn’t figure out how to install WordPress on my domain, hosted by BlueFur, so I ended up getting someone at WordPress to install it for me. It was wonderful to have it up and working… then I messed it all up.

I wanted to upload a nice theme, followed the tutorial I found ( http://www.siteground.com/tutorials/wordpress/wordpress_themes.htm ) and I messed everything up. Now instead of seeing my blog I see the Index of/. I can’t figure out how to fix this. Will I have to somehow wipe it all clean and start again?? WordPress might not install it for me a second time. How in the world do you do any of this??

I just paid a whole years ‘rent’ on this domain and really want to blog… but don’t know if I wasted my $$$.

    Can anyone help me??

  • what is your url?

did you back up your files before installing the new theme?

is that all you installed… just a new theme?

Are you running WP 2.3.. I’ve noticed some themes have issues with 2.3

Answer what srmarketing asked and it should help us help you, also have you tried clearing your WordPress’s cache? that might help as similar things have happened to me before..

visited the url from your profile and all i see is a directory of your files… the reason being you are missing your index.php from the root folder…

you may have accidentally deleted it from the root. try uploading it again and see if that fixes your problem.

Thanks to all of you that answered me here. James dropped me an email, he’s the fellow that originally put WP up for me. He offered to help and got it straightened out for me. I appreciate all of you for being willing to help. I’m sure I’ll be back with more questions :o)
