    Hi Sally,

The most likely reason for this is that you have used the ‘category’ shortcode to show only categories (as you mentioned in your other question.

It is important that you use the ‘slug’ for the category and not the name – this is because the name can change where the slug usually does not. Have a look under the ‘product type’ menu for the shop and you will see a list of slugs. The most common thing is that spaces are replaced by ‘-‘ in WordPress. The fixed helper will now put in the correct slug for you.

If that answers your question and Your question on categories then could you let me know? If not then please give me some more information and I will try to help.

    Cheers,

    Hi

    Thanks for your help

    On page http://lovefamilyholidays.co.uk/boys-sunglasses/ I have used [pg_sas_shop category=boys-sunglasses]

The slug is boys-sunglasses so I’m a bit confused, what is wrong with this short code, and what should it say?

    Thanks again

    Hi Sally,

DId you use the helper to create your shortcode? (To rule out any question of mistyping)
I suspect that it may be related to duplication of slugs in the site as I have seen this before.
    Try the following:
    1. Check that the slug you are using is not duplicated in any pages or categories
    2. Refresh your permalinks by going into settings/permaliinks and clicking the ‘save changes’ button without making any changes.
    3. If none of that works and you would like to provide me a login I can have a direct look (contact me via my website contact form

When we get to the bottom of what is causing this I can add it to the FAQ.)

    Cheers,

    Hi Brian

I’m not sure what the helper is?

I’ve tried resetting permalinks, and can’t see any duplicate pages or categories. I’ve not mentioned sunglasses in any other pages than my shop…

The page does exist, and it does appear when I click on the page for boys sunglasses I have made; http://lovefamilyholidays.co.uk/boys-sunglasses/

The issue I’m having is with individual listings – so on that page I just sent, if you go on to click the listing ‘Kids Polarised Sunglasses – Blue/Yellow – Unisex’ there will be nothing to show on that page (http://lovefamilyholidays.co.uk/sasproduct/kids-polarised-sunglasses-blue-yellow/)

All I want to do is either make the title non-clickable or make it show the product.

    Hope that makes sense?

    Thanks

    Sally

    Hi Sally,

The ‘helper’ is the little icon on the toolbar when you are using the editor that will generate the short code for you.

I’m not able to recreate the problem you are having – is there any chance you can contact me via my website contact page and if you can show me the way you have created the pages then I am sure we can resolve what is happening. It seems you are in the UK and I am happy to do a Skype screen share for example. I am sure it is probably something simple that we can get to the bottom of more easily on a call. (If you can send me a logon to the site then I can have a look for you.)

    Regards,

    Hi Sally,

Thank you for providing the login details and I am really glad we got to the bottom of the issue.

For any other readers the solution was to make sure that the category slug for the shop product types was not already used by the slug of a post. In our case ‘boys-sunglasses’ was a shop category slug as well as the slug for the page that had been created as an index. When we changed the category slug the problem was resolved.
Note: This is not unique to Simple Affiliate Shop so keep this in mind with any other plugins that use a custom taxonomy.

I will investigate adding a warning if this is detected to help people avoid this issue in the future.

Best wishes for your site’s success and thanks for using Simple Affiliate Shop.
