# Item Price error message wrong.

 * When someone enters a price using currency characters, the message is saying **
   Please type in a price for your Ad.** instead of advising the user not to use
   currency symbols. How to I change the error message?

 * Sorry you ran into issues here. That’s a general “price field is bad” message–
   it’s hard to make it more specific because we check that the entered value is
   nothing but a number, and lots of things can mess with that.
 * You can change any message in the plugin by activating the translation file and
   then changing the strings inside of it. We cover that in this article here: [http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/quick-start-guide/#translate](http://businessdirectoryplugin.com/quick-start-guide/#translate)
 * Please note: The translation file will be removed when you update the plugin (
   that’s a WP thing–not our choice). Be sure to save a backup of the file and restore
   on upgrade.

 * At first your solution wasn’t working for me but then I noticed I had to check
   the **Turn on translation file (POT)** box under General Settings in order for
   my changes to show.Thank you.
