Item Categories: Unable to "Save"

I am watching the Walkthrough Videos on the Code Canyon website. They are very confusing, but I am trying to follow this step by step to see if I can get anything to work. I don’t have a good idea of the overview of what is supposed to happen.
I have watched the Custom attributes and Item categories video several times. I gave up on Item Attributes because I don’t understand how and where they will be applied.
I then attempted to follow “Add New Item Category.” However, in my dashboard, even after I enter a name, slug and order number there isn’t a blue button that says Add New Item Category. So I can’t create item categories. There is only a Add New Contact Block blue button on the page.
How critical is the Item Category settings to getting “something” to look at? I have made several Media Grid Items, links to webpage that uses a Featured Image. But how do they get onto a page into a grid? I am clueless what to do with them now.
