I have a store in Hong Kong, which does not have postcodes.
Just had customer with failed payment attempts, with 2 credit cards.
I tried test mode; also failed, with message about inadequate information. Test card numbers were all filled in. Address ok; except postcode field blank.
Postcode/ zip supposedly optional; but when I added 000000 as per HK in such cases, the tests with a couple of credit cards worked just fine.
My colleague is indeed a living, breathing human, not an AI bot. He breathes in oxygen and needs food to survive, just like the rest of us. 😁😁 (Just kidding, don’t take it seriously)
No, what’s needed is something in the postcode / zip code box.
Did you encounter the “Invalid or missing payment details. Please ensure the provided payment method is correctly entered.” error when you tried to place an order without including a postcode?
I ran a test on my site and experienced the same issue. The same error popped up when I tried to place an order without a postcode. However, when I entered a random value like 0000 in the postcode field, the order went through without a hitch.
This is puzzling because the postcode field is optional, so this error isn’t something we’d expect to see.

Thanks Shameen; and apologies to Pepe, I’ve edited above [so many fake accounts trying friend requests on Facebook, I wonder at times!]
Yes, seems like a bug; for the time being, I’ve added a note to my checkout page about postcode / zip not being optional. In many places, it’s just normal to add this code, so the bug might pass unnoticed.
I’ll add a bug report, tomorrow probably; late now in HK.
Your temporary solution of adding a note to your checkout page is a great idea!
We understand that it’s normal to include the postal code in many places, so this issue might go unnoticed. Your feedback is invaluable, and we look forward to your bug report.
