    Before activating the plugin, the Hotlink Protection feature on my hosting (cPanel) was working fine.

    But after using this plugin, Hotlink Protection no longer works. My images are still being displayed on other websites, which consumes my bandwidth.

    I tried disabling the plugin and Hotlink Protection works again, it’s safe to say that your plugin did something to make Hotlink Protection not work.

    Please fix this, thank you!

    Hello @webesyde,

    Thanks for your message.

    Unfortunately, I don’t know what can cause such a problem. The .htaccess file contains only what is necessary for the plugin to function.

    Best,
    Mateusz

    Hello, I found that plugin use 2 .htaccess files in wp-content and upload folders. I tried to put hotlink protection in 2 .htaccess files and it works!

    The problem is resolved, but you can make something to help people who want to use hotlink protection know what should they do to work!

    @lucidgen What can I do?

    I would suggest you the following:
    – Add a hotlink protection section in plugin settings (it’s collapsed by default).
    – When the user clicks it will expand, you will explain that the user needs to paste their hotlink protection code into the 2 htaccess files that the plugin used.
    – Even better if you have a blank box for users to enter their hotlink protection code and save it, your plugin will automatically insert it for them.

    @lucidgen This type of security is not the responsibility of this plugin. You need to know that a plugin is for many people and has to be universal. More than 100,000 people use the plugin and you are the first person of this type. If I have more such reports, I will plan this functionality.

    The problem is that it is very difficult to determine if Hotlink Protection is not working because of your plugin. If they knew it was your plugin, they would have let you know.

    @lucidgen It is still over 100,000 people and no one has reported similar problems before. The problem is probably because Hotlink Protection is a set of rules in the .htaccess file. When there are other rules it is the order that matters.

    It’s not like the plugin breaks anything. The two solutions were simply not compatible with each other. But in the plugin I am not able to make it compatible with everything.
