• Its already installed, I just want to upgrade. So I run upgrade.php and it tells me to have fun, then I try to see my blog and it tells me it doesn’t look like you’ve installed wp yet. I’ve deleted all files and reinstalled them, I even tried to make a new database and it worked great with that. But when I imported all of data into the new database I got “It doesn’t look like you’ve installed WP yet”. I’m ready to scream.

  • Same here, with two different installations of 1.5.1.2. Seems like a no-brainer that it should upgrade cleanly from a fairly recent version. Perhaps a vBulletin-style upgrade process is warranted, i.e. incremental upgrades?

Reverting to 1.5.1.2 until the dust has settled.

I suppose you really followed all steps in the upgrade instructions. As I understand it, you cannot import your 1.5.x database after installing WP 2.o and make it work.

You’d have to have the old structure of the database in place before you run ( go to ) the upgrade.php, which will change the database structure to fit the 2.0 version.

I’m running into this problem too. I’ve gone through both guides recommeneded in the Codex, both have failed.

    Plugin’s were disabled.
    DB was backed up.
    wp-content was copied over.
    .htaccess was copied
    wp-images was copied
DB was restored in new table

    yada yada.

Any ideas? I’ve been able to install wordpress 2.0 as a standalone new blog so i dont think there are conflicts there.

    Thanks,

    Geoffrey

I’ve also had the same problem. I’m also not able to return to 1.5.x. I tried renaming the home page in both locations in the database, to no avail. I’d love to just get something working again, but I can’t get the old version working either.

nevermind mine, I guess. It’s totally working now. I tried it again, and this time it worked. Bloody strange I say. I had the problem when I was trying to change the URL/folder, but decided to just keep the same one and it worked fine.

    I’m having a similar problem.

When trying to install WP2 from nothing:
I dezipped, uploaded WP2 and nicely followed all steps.
The install script worked fine, but when I tried to log in, or just
see the main page, it said “It doesn’t look like you’ve installed WP yet. Try running install.php.”

I also tried to upgrade an existing WordPress 1.5.2,
the upgrade script went smoothly, but when I visited my blog,
    a blank page appeared.

Something got to be wrong, but where?

    Let’s just stick to 1.5.2 for now…

About what I wrote before :

I also tried to upgrade an existing WordPress 1.5.2,
the upgrade script went smoothly, but when I visited my blog,
    a blank page appeared.

I found out what the problem was.
I used to use a custom theme which I forgot to copy into wordpress directory. So, instead of telling me that the theme directory was missing, WordPress ended just to print a blank page 😮
So, it’s kinda my fault. WordPress is still great ^^
