I am SO frustrated. I thought this plugin would actually do what you say “unpublish your posts and pages without having to trash them” but alas I was on my site to find out to my horror that all the posts I archived are still fully accessible and visible they just have “archived” in front of them. Are you kidding me??? What is the solution here??

Archived posts are still visible to logged in Administrators. Please check the FAQ for details.

Hi Frankie! Thank you for responding! Now I feel a bit silly but THANK GOODNESS. I was panicking when I was tweaking my blog today. I am not even sure where the FAQs are?

But they give a 404 error – so is that not a problem?

There are plenty of use cases where a 404 is desirable. This plugin won’t attempt to interfere with any existing redirect management. Using a plugin such as Redirection could be used to ensure any legacy URLs do a 301 redirect to the homepage, or any other custom redirect behavior/status code.
