Title: Issues with4.2.2 update Last modified: August 24, 2016 --- # Issues with4.2.2 update * Resolved [3dmus](https://wordpress.org/support/users/3dmus/) * (@3dmus) * [11 years ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/issues-with422-update/) * Hi – my mailbox is being flooded with emails asking me to update to 4.2.2 (previous ones were done automatically). When trying to do the upgrade by logging into my site, I get the message box: * > Database Update Required > WordPress has been updated! Before we send you on your way, we have to update > your database to the newest version. > The update process may take a little while, so please be patient. * but then it goes into an infinite loop. I’ve been reading up about this and followed all the advice, but I am still stuck. * – when I update the $wp_db_version to synch with the value for db_version in my wp_options table (30133) then I can’t get through the logon screen anymore( no error message, it just doesn’t continue). When I change the value back to what it was (30135) I get the infinite loop again asking me to upgrade. * Any ideas? I had a look at the link, but unfortunately, still no resolution. I did have W3 Cache enabled but I disabled that now via the wp-options table ( by removing it from the active_plugins field value). I think I also cleared the cache by deleting the w3t folder in WP-content. * Right now I’m stuck with not being able to go through the authorisation screen at all (i.e. it blanks out each time I try to login). I enabled WP_Debug but the log only shows PHP strict standards errors with some conditional widgets: * “PHP Strict Standards: Declaration of Conditional_Widget_Walker_Category_Checklist” * I wouldn’t have thought this would be the issue? * Moderator [James Huff](https://wordpress.org/support/users/macmanx/) * (@macmanx) * [11 years ago](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/issues-with422-update/#post-6127260) * No, that just means something else is causing trouble. 🙂 * Try [manually resetting your plugins](https://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F)( no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause. * If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via [FTP or SFTP](https://codex.wordpress.org/FTP_Clients), navigate to `/wp-content/themes/` and rename the directory of your currently active theme. I also tried adding another admin user to the database (both my cpanel and via direct SQL updates), but that didn’t help either.
