Same problem here.
After uninstalling wordfence, reinstalling it is impossible cause of a FATAL ERROR.
if left active, the website responds with a 500 fatal error on frontend.
The new 7.4.8 update doesn’t fix the problem.
The Wordfence Login Security plugin is still working though.
thank you in advance for any support.

Hey @buber,
Do you see any errors in the browser console? If so, can you please share a screenshot?
https://www.wordfence.com/help/advanced/troubleshooting/#how-to-inspect-the-browser-console
If you disable all other plugins are you able to access the Wordfence options?
Once you’re able to access the options if you’re still having trouble with other plugins functioning correctly while Wordfence is enabled you might try putting the Firewall into Learning Mode.
https://www.wordfence.com/help/firewall/learning-mode/
Please let me know how it goes.
@andymnc – Can you please try manually resetting Wordfence and let us know if it helps? If it doesn’t help, can you please open a seperate thread incase the issue the OP is having differs?

Thanks for the response Gerroald. I tried deactivating/deleting all plugins and never could get anything to fix it. Both WordPress and Jetpack seemed to have something corrupted and I could do anything to fix either. So, I just started a new install and migrated my posts over. With a fresh install, all seems to be working. I have no idea what is wrong with the old one, but at this point, it is moot.
I would say that it all started when I accidentally hit either deactivate or delete WordFence. That caused a fatal error and even when I tried to reactive/reinstall, it never quite worked right. And then, after the most recent WordFence update, things broke further.
Hi @wfgerald . I did try the manual reset procedure but it didn’t solve at all.
When i install the plugin (it installs) and try to activate it – after that “reset” procedure, also after reinstalling last wp version – i got a “plugin can’t be installed because it’s causing a fatal error” message by wordpress.
I can instead install Wordfence Login Security and activate it without any problem.
Let me know what to do please.
Hey @buber,
Thanks for the update and happy to hear it.
We were tracking an issue that may have contributed to this. We released an update for it which I’ve seen several resolutions from. Also, previously completely resetting it has helped. My apologies for the trouble.
@andymnc – Can you please open a separate thread so we can take a closer look? Please also share any relevant errors found in the PHP error logs. If you’re not sure where these are your host can provide them to you.
Thanks,
Gerroald
Hi @wfgerald . Just to tell you that you were right. the manual removal solved the issue.
i didn’t completely removed the db tables.
So, again, the manual removal as per your link solved and i could reinstall and activate the wf plugin.
Thank you
