• My company’s website has a “Team” page where we show our employees. This page works like a gallery page where there is a photo of each team member and when you hover over their picture, there is a text overlay that says their name and a quick bio. In order to upload, we upload the person’s photo, and the photo’s description becomes the text that shows up when you hover over the photo. This is a link to the Team page.

Recently, if we upload a new image (using the same, previously seamless process as we always have) it will bump the image to the end and create a blank image ahead of the uploaded image. If you try to delete the blank image, it will say “Can’t remove image – first”. If you try to change the order of any images, it will say “Can’t remove image – second”. On the page I linked to above, you can see what the blank frames look like at the bottom of the page (there are three of them). We already tried to re-make the page starting from scratch and the same problem occurred.

Does anyone have a solution to this?

  • What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?

I believe it is a custom theme. We do not have a way to get in touch with whoever first created it as that was several years ago.

If your theme was created years ago, I’m sure the theme needs an updating as there are probably tons of deprecated and old functions being used.

That or the loop you’re using has extra code.

We are always installing the updates, it is up-to-date. My impression is that it is a WordPress theme that was customized.

The theme needs to be updated as well, by re-writing large sections of it when code becomes deprecated.

Updating CORE does not affect your theme. You could still be using code that was deprecated back in 3.7 or so, is what I am saying.

And after looking at the page, it’s probably just extra code in the loop. Which we can’t help with unless we can see the code.

I’m sorry but we cannot really help with custom themes as we have no idea how they were constructed. I can only suggest that you contact the original developers of the theme or try hiring someone to look into this for you.
