• Hi,

I have some problems with the meta title and meta description.
I well filled up the general settings of All in one SEO plugin, I mean the home title, the home description but google results show other texts!

I had a look on the homepage code, I did not find the home title but I did not find the home title.

    It is quite weird !

Here below part of the homepage code:

<!– All in One SEO Pack 2.2.5.1 by Michael Torbert of Semper Fi Web Design[-1,-1] –>
    <link rel=”publisher” href=”https://plus.google.com/u/0/b/104555701985210169519/&#8221; />

    And below the google result:

Bio transition | Le blog pour votre bien-être
    bio-transition.com/
Bio transition vous souhaite la bienvenue ! Notre nouveau site d’information spécialisé dans le bien-être naturel vous propose des articles dans de nombreux …

It seems that Google takes actually the site description as meta title and the beginning of my frontend text as meta description !

I do not know what to do …

    Thank you for support,

    Best regards,
    Cédric.

    Hi Cédric,

I see that your theme is interfering with the Title tag that All in One SEO Pack outputs. You can try changing the following options to see if this fixes the problem:

http://semperplugins.com/documentation/performance-settings/#force-rewrites – Set this to Enabled
http://semperplugins.com/documentation/general-settings/#use-original-title – Set this to Disabled

Also make sure you update WordPress to the latest version, especially if you have updated your theme recently because many themes have introduced new code that only works with the latest version of WordPress. Make sure you backup your site fully before performing any updates.

    Hi,

    Thank you for your answer!

Following your recommendations, I checked in general settings, the original title was already disabled.

Anyway, in performance settings, the force rewrites option is not displayed. So I am not able to change it !

About the wordpress version, yes, I run on the last one: 4.1.1

    Thank you for support,

    Best regards,
    Cédric.

Does the following title and description match what you entered into the Home Title and Home Description fields?

For the home description, yes, it is the same.

But for the home title, I filled up an another sentence:

Bio transition – Le site d’informations pour votre bien-être au naturel !

By the way, could you tell me please why I do not have any force writes setting available as you mentionned before?

    Thank you very much !

This is likely caused by a conflict with your theme or another plugin. We’ve seen that option be removed by other plugins before. Can you send me your WordPress administrator login and we can see what’s conflicting. You can send me your login using the contact form here – http://semperplugins.com/contact/

    Hi Cedric,

This should be working now. It was because you had Rewrite Titles disabled in All in One SEO Pack. This basically tells All in One SEO Pack not to output the title tag.

    Hi,

Thanks a lot for your help !

By the way, I have one last question as you are expert on SEO!

It would be great to get your point of view on this following point.

On my homepage there are several post and on the bottom the pagination : page 1, 2, 3 …

Therefore, Google indexed my homepage and the following pages too.

On Google results were displayed :
    http://bio-transition.com
    but also:
    http://bio-transition/page/2
    http://bio-transition/page/3

So in order to get only my main homepage on Google results, I deleted the URL with the /page/2, /page/3, … on Google webmaster tool.

But afterwards, I realized that probably I made a mistake and that it is not the good way to manage it. Now, maybe there are some difficuties for google robots to find my posts from the page 2 …

Must I propose back these URL to the indexation? How can I manage it, maybe through the ” exploration as google” section located in google webmaster tool?

And what is the right way to avoid the page 2, page 3, … in google results?

Thank you very much for your expertise !

    Best regards,
    Cédric.

I would strongly recommend you resubmit those URLs back to Google using Google Webmaster Tools as you want Google to crawl those pages and index the posts on those paginated pages. I would recommend that you check the option for Remove Descriptions For Paginated Pages under All in One SEO, General Settings, Advanced Settings so you don’t get warnings in Google Webmaster Tools about duplicate descriptions.

Ok thank you very much for all these recommendations!

The support of All in One SEO pack is very reactive! Excellent!

    Hi,

I installed recently a SSL certificate to my website.

The description text on google results changed. Instead of the setting of All in One SEO, it displays some text from editorial content.

Thank you very much for support !

    Best regards,
    Cédric.

    Hi Cédric,

The easiest way to tell what Google has in its index is to do a site search by typing the following into Google:

    site:bio-transition.com

You can then click the Search tools link that appears above the results and click the Any time drop down and select a period such as Past year. This will now show you all the pages Google has indexed and the dates they updated their index going back one year.

For example, if I do that then I can see that they updated their index for your homepage 3 days ago, see this screenshot – https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7101234/screen-capture.png

So now you can check when you change a title or description on a page to see when they pick that change up and reflect it in their index. As you can see, they’re not picking up the meta description you provided but instead the first paragraph of text on the page. This is unusual but it could be that they are testing a new change to their algorithms, they do this from time to time.

    I hope this helps.

    (@cedric75)

Ok thank you very much for your answer!

So I will wait for new updates of index, I hope that right description will come back!

Otherwise, maybe, it could be a conflict with another plugin.
It was the case already one month ago.

    Let’s see!

    Thank you anyway.

    Best regards,
    Cédric.

    Hi Cédric,

If you check your source of that page or post and the Title tag and Meta Description output by All in One SEO Pack matches what you set in the plugin for that page/post then our plugin is working fine. If there’s no other Meta Description in the source code then this is not a conflict with another plugin, this is just how Google operates and you just have to accept it. Google can do what it wants and when it wants.

OK, thank you very much for these explanations.
