Issue with column based search
-
Peter,
I have another question related to the column-based search with Listbox enabled.
Let’s say you have the following columns in a table:
Name, Address, City, State
If I enable individual column search for all columns and then enable ListBox for State column.
The issue is you can’t search just a name with any state anymore. Because there is always a state selected as part of the dropdown list. Whatever you enter in the name field, it will perform the name and state search.
What we need is a null value at the top of the Listbox. So, if user doesn’t pick a state, then all states will be searched.
Hope you see the issue that I have.
Thanks.

Hi Jay,
Can you share a public URL I can visit to view your publication?
Thanks,
PeterSorry, our site is strictly internal. The column-based search is a very powerful search capability, we all like it. The only issue is the drop-down list doesn’t have a “not selected” option. It always has the top value selected, which messes up with the search result.
Hi Jay,
Just to make sure we’re talking about the same thing, this is a publication, right?
If I add a drop down list to a publication, the first item in the drop down list contains the text “Search …” (where … contains the column label). If you select that item, the search column is cleared.
Do you see this text in your drop down list? If so, what would be a convenient text for you? I can make this text editable…
Thanks,
PeterI am referring to Data Project diehard table with column based search enabled. As I click that button with three dots next to the search and open column based search, if a column is enabled for listbox dropdown selection, then the first item is always selected by default. There is no way to not select anything.
Now I understand why I couldn’t find it! 😊 I’ll fix it…
Thanks for reporting,
Peter
