Issue with chmod and folders (3 posts)

On my site at here you're able to type /wp-includes or /wp-content/uploads/ after the domain name and you're able to browse the directory which I'd like to deny. I've tried to chmod forth and back and in the end I couldn't get it to work properly, either because all images started to disappear from my site or certain features started to stop working.

Currently I've a fresh wordpress install with all the default chmod settings that come with it.

How would I be able to deny/restrict people from being able to browse the directory? What would be the proper chmod settings for it?

*I've searched the forums and read the codex covering chmod however it was no good. If I missed a topic alike then please share the link.*

    Baha :-)

It isn't really a chmod issue. Really, directories have to be browseable (read permission) from the filesystem's (chmod's) standpoint.

Sounds like you have a lot of access to the server, and to Apache's config files, so: http://www.linuxscrew.com/2008/06/03/faq-how-to-disable-directory-browsing-in-apachehttpd/
