Thanks for using the Yoast SEO plugin. I understand you want to remove the product category from your slug, but according to WooCommerce documentation, it’s highly not recommended. Removing /product/
, /product-category/
, or /shop/
from the URLs is not advisable due to how WordPress resolves its URLs. It uses the product-category
(or any other text for that matter) base of a URL to detect that it is a URL leading to a product category.
The Yoast SEO plugin doesn’t have a feature to do this. If you still insist on going ahead, you can make the change in your product permalinks settings in WordPress > Settings > Permalinks. Again, this can lead to a number of problems with performance and duplicate URLs. I’d also advise creating a backup of your website or testing things out on a staging site.

I’m still wondering how other (big) companies solve this problem. The url is not google friendly and ugly.
