A site I have in development (WP 3.5.1) uses both Relevanssi 3.1.4 and WP Glossary 1.5.1. When I do a global site search (no parameters, no specific filters) the results are great but also show one WP glossary term. Specifically, the one listed last alphabetically.

If I create a new item in WP Glossary called zzzzzz (I’m not kidding), a search results page of Relevanssi √°lways shows zzzzz as one of the results (usually top 5).

Excluding the alphabetically last item of WP Glossary does not work, then the second last item will always be shown. If anyone has a fix, or at least a vague direction of where I should look, I would be so grateful. Its not a big issue, but its puzzling and annoying.

  • Update: Deactivating Relevanssi and using normal search of WordPress shows that the alphabeticcaly last item of WP Glossary is ignored (as it should be).

So I guess it is a specific issue between WP GLossary and Relevanssi and does not have to do with any other plugins or theme related issues.

Do you want to have the glossary terms in the search results? If not, make sure Relevanssi doesn’t index the post type.

Anyway, I can’t make WP Glossary terms appear in search results, no matter how I try, so, hard to say what’s going on on your site.

Yes the Glossary items need to be in the search results. This is possible using Relevanssi (you can choose which (custom) posts types are shown).

But I ‘fixed’ it. The number of search results in Relevanssi was set to max 10. After changing this to 100 the last listed item of WP Glossary doesn’t appear anymore. Beats me how it works, but it works. Thanks for the reply (and the good plugin) and have a nice weekend!
