 * Hi,
 * I’m having trouble with my contact form, since it’s not sending any emails. It
   just happened out of the blue, without me changing any settings.
 * Into the log file, I’ve seen there’s an issue related to the incorrect authentication
   data. I’ve followed the procedure ([https://postmansmtp.com/incorrect-authentication-data/](https://postmansmtp.com/incorrect-authentication-data/)),
   but it doesn’t work.
    When I run a connectivity test, i get some warnings like
   this one: “Warning: connected to frisbee.host instead of everseensa.com.”
 * Here’s the result of the diagnostic test:
 * Mailer: postsmtp
    HostName: everseensa.com cURL Version: 7.73.0 OpenSSL Version:
   OpenSSL/1.1.1h OS: Linux host.frisbee.host 3.10.0-1062.9.1.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP

 * Could you please help me solve this issue? I’ve read different topics about it
   and I know it might not be related to the plug-i itself, but i’m really having
   trouble with finding the root of the problem.
 * Thank you very much, looking forward to your reply

 * Hi Eleonora [@elliemaffio93](https://wordpress.org/support/users/elliemaffio93/),
 * The warning you are seeing is not overly concerning as your domain everseensa.
   com does seem to be based on the cPanel hosting server at host.frisbee.host.
   The IPs certainly match.
 * Your authentication seems to be set to ‘Plain’ in your plugin settings. Can you
   try changing it to ‘Login’? Looking at your hosting, it seems to be cPanel based
   so assuming you are using that cPanel server for your SMTP – it will almost definitely**
   not** support _Plain_ login.
 * Please let us know how you get on after that change and whether it succeeds or
   you hit another problem.
 * Kind Regards,
    Tim

 * Hi Tim,
 * First of all thank you for the quick answer.
    I tried, as you suggested, to set
   my authentication method to “Login” instead of “Plain”, but I still keep on getting
   the error of “incorrect authentication data” in the log. Also, I checked and
   you’re right: we are using cPanel server for the SMTP.
 * Here’s the diagnostic test i just run (hope it’s useful):

 * Hi Eleonora,
 * Okay, interesting! Can you run a connectivity test from the plugin settings please,
   and then post a screenshot of the results here? You might need to use something
   like Dropbox or Google Drive to ‘host’ the image temporarily.
 * I’m sure you have, but don’t forget to also check that your username and password
   are correct for the SMTP server. In the case of cPanel the SMTP username is always
   the **full email address** including the “@domain.tld”.
 * Look forward to hearing how that goes! 🙂
 * Kind Regards,
    Tim

 * Hi Tim!
 * I just run a connectivity test.
    Unfortunately, I’m having trouble with uploading
   the screenshot (…feeling super stupid). I hope it’s ok to just write down what
   I see:
 * Inside the grid, all status are OPEN and green coloured.
    For the first three
   sockets (mail.everseensa.com:25 – mail.everseensa.com:465 – mail.everseensa.com:
   587 ) everything looks green and ok.
 * I get three warnings in the second part of the test result:
    1) port 25 can be
   used for SMTP to mail.everseensa.com. Warning: connected to frisbee.host instead
   of everseensa.com 2) port 587 can be used for SMTP to mail.everseensa.com. Warning:
   connected to frisbee.host instead of everseensa.com 3) port 465 can be used for
   SMTP to mail.everseensa.com. Warning: connected to frisbee.host instead of everseensa.
   com
 * Hope I included enough details for you to help me.
    Sorry about the screenshot.
   Let me know if you need more info about the connectivity test!
 * Thank you very much,
 * Eleonora

 * Hi Eleonora,
 * No worries! Just for testing – can you try switching the SMTP server to `host.
   frisbee.host` (which is the cPanel server and see if it will authenticate?
 * Have you double checked the email and password of the SMTP account you are using?
   Webmail might be a good place to verify the details are correct.
 * Kind Regards,
    Tim
