Hello guys i’m new to wordpress and i’ve came from blogger (i designed templates). Blogger had a different widget structure from wordpress and now i’m having issues. I want to display a text (div with content) in home page before post list (first page only) and i’m not getting there. I tried to add a static page to home and query the post list from there but i failed.

1 – My question is, from your experience view what method should i use to do this ?

2 – I want the to edit the layout on the home page post list, i just need to edit the loop.php right ?

  • These two posts have downloads that might help you, they are template pages for page of posts and page of posts extended, both of these are WordPress twenty eleven child themes.

The way they work is a page template with a custom post query and custom loop!

So you just create a page and add the forward text as your description above, and below that is the queried posts, then set the page as a static “home page” in the Admin > Settings > Reading.

Thanks for the fast response. Going to try it out and will feedback on it a bit later 🙂
