• Hi Everyone,

I am currently in charge of developing a website for an undergraduate club in Geography. I am familiar with the likes of blogging sites such as Livejournal, but I’m not confident a blog-style is right for the kinds of information we are looking to post. Examples include events, office hours, an exam bank, and photos.

I have looked around at finding a domain name and hosting but the price is a little high (I think anyway) for what we are looking to do.

In a nutshell, I want to find out if WordPress is worth downloading for our purposes. I skimmed through some of their info and I got the sense that I can opt to design our own website without a blog theme, anyone know how to get this started?

    Your thoughts are appreciated!

  • WordPress does not have to look or act like a blog if you don’t want it to. Its all in how you write the theme. So… to get started read through the codex on themes and Google for ‘wordpress theme tutorial’. Once you have more specific questions it will be easier to give more specific answers.
