Is WordPress for us? (6 posts)

We are on the verge of using WordPress to build a new website. But first I'd like to know if WordPress can do all that we plan to do. I was hoping that someone on the forum could point me to a working WordPress-built website that uses the following features that we need to be able to use on ours (I'd like to see a working example of a WordPress site similar to what we plan to build):
    - Register and pay for live events/classes that the registrant would attend in person
    - Register and pay for webcast events that the registrant would attend online
    - Sign in to member only pages
    - Play live webcasts
    - Play recorded/archived webcasts (members only)
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks much!

I don't have working example of a site

I do however have one suggestion
by default WP only gives a few access levels.

gives very granular control over content viewing and editing. It sounds like something you would need from the start for making member/access levels, etc

WordPress can do everything you need for this website; however, much of the functionality may require commercial Plugins (Event Management, Membership Management). Other features are available out-of-the-box: playback of live/recorded webcasts, password-protected Pages, etc.

Thanks much for the feedback. I've been investigating the Event Management and Membership Management Plugins. They're looking good!
    Especially Event Espresso.

If you are interested in Event Espresso, you should take a test drive of the premium version, before you waste time with the free version.
