Hello, Is wordpress 3.0.1 cron broken? I see a lot errors in my apache error log that go like this –

[Wed Sep 01 06:25:09 2010] [warn] child process 7890 still did not exit, sending a SIGTERM
[Wed Sep 01 06:25:09 2010] [warn] child process 7892 still did not exit, sending a SIGTERM
[Wed Sep 01 06:25:09 2010] [warn] child process 7895 still did not exit, sending a SIGTERM
[Wed Sep 01 06:25:09 2010] [warn] child process 7897 still did not exit, sending a SIGTERM
[Wed Sep 01 06:25:09 2010] [warn] child process 7899 still did not exit, sending a SIGTERM
[Wed Sep 01 06:25:10 2010] [notice] SIGHUP received. Attempting to restart

These seem to occur every 5 minutes. If I use wp super cache the number of such errors are more though the frequency at which they are logged is 10 minutes. This seem to suggest the the garbage collector that runs every 10 minutes is also causing these issues. And I find super cache using the wordpress cron to accomplish that.

so, what is wrong with wp-cron.php or cron.php in wordpress 3.0.1.Why is it causing infinite loops as the errors seem to suggest?

I guess the problem is also there with wordpress 2.0 though I haven’t checked it then.
