    Hi Liliana!

Is there a specific reason you want to use the Gutenberg plugin?

The block editor (code name: Gutenberg) is built right into WordPress now, so you don’t need to activate the standalone Gutenberg plugin unless you want to preview new block-editor features before they are incorporated into Core WordPress.

In theory, you can certainly go ahead and use the block editor with Twenty Ten, although being a 12 year-old theme, it’s not going to support all the blocks well. Have you considered updating to a more modern theme? It could be something to think about. Twenty Ten was a solid theme but it was the last default theme that’s not responsive, so it does not adjust automatically to small screen sizes, making your site very hard to read on mobile devices like phones or tablets. By updating to a newer theme, you’ll find that blocks work better, and you won’t need to use a mobile plugin, which is what I assume you’re using at the moment to have your site render properly on mobile.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

p.s. if you’re not seeing the block editor in your dashboard, you might have the Classic Editor installed. If you deactivate that plugin, you should see the block editor.

HI, Kathryn and thank you for your feedback,

And YES! I have the Classic Editor installed. If I deactivate it or uninstall it I fear a lot that the sites might break.

Could I have your suggestion here, please??

    Thank you again!

Hi Liliana, deactivating the Classic Editor shouldn’t break existing content. What will happen is that the content on those pages and posts will be turned into a Classic Block, which gives you an editor very similar to the old Classic Editor.

Then, you can start using the block editor on new posts or pages going forward.

There’s also the possibility to work convert existing pages and posts to use blocks (other than Classic) but there’s no obligation to do so.

    Hello again!

Ok, I think I understood . I will try it on new sites,

However, before doing so, I still have this doubt:

In case I deactivate the Classic Editor and I don´t like the results, will re-activating it bring the sites back as they were prior to deactivating the plugin?

    Sorry for the confusion

I appreciate your help very much!!

    Hi Liliana,

In case I deactivate the Classic Editor and I don´t like the results, will re-activating it bring the sites back as they were prior to deactivating the plugin?

Deactivating the Classic Editor (and then reactivating it) should not change the appearance of anything on your site, if you didn’t make any edits to existing content while it was not active. So if you’re worried about it, I’d suggest starting to try the block editor on only new posts or pages.
