Hey @lcm404,
this project is still supported as you may notice due to the fact that there are regular updates 😉
I also try to answer the support threads here from time to time, but not on a daily or weekly schedule.
Best regards,
PatrickHello Patrick,
After update to 2.1.2.1, When I click the download cannot click “Click here to download”, it will open a new browser tab instead of download. I test on different server the result is same. Now I cannot download the zip file.
Best regards,
FrederickWhat version of PHP does this thing support? I was told by my host that it was an older version they didn’t support.
I have two servers, one is PHP 7.4.3, another PHP 7.4.11.
Export files to a folder is OK, but zip cannot, click on the zip file link will open a new blank page tab.
I countered similar situation.
Mine is,
The Zip file link opens blank page in the same tab.
(Both MS Edge and Firefox)I found new zip files in wp-content/plugins/simply-static/static-files .
PHP 7.4.14.Same here, only with the latest version of the plugin.
WP 5.4.2
PHP 7.3.26With old version of the plugin (2.1.1) works well.
thanks for mentioning the issue, this seems to be a general problem and not directly related to the PHP version – I added it as an issue and I will fix it with a smaller update soon.
As @dohc already mentioned the ZIP file is created correctly and you can find it in wp-content/plugins/simply-static/static-files the current problem is the download prompt by clicking the button on the backend.
The minimum PHP version is 7.2.5 the latest supported version is 7.4.7 (latest), PHP 8 is not officially supported for now.

I Say you go pro mate 🙂 Launch a pro version and many will support because wordpress is just so difficult to optimize! By going pro you can outsource support or get more motivation to work on this plugin.
Thanks
Hey Hitesh (@marketing91),
that’s true!
While I don’t have any plans to outsource the support, I am working on a pro version of Simply Static to cover the costs of development and maintenance.
I wrote a little roadmap for that here: https://patrickposner.dev/the-future-of-simply-static/
There are a lot of things that will be available within the first release like scheduling exports (with cron), deployment to AWS, DO Spaces and Cloudflare Workers, selections for exporting instead of a full generation and search (without any third-party provider), others will take a bit longer like forms and e-commerce but I expect most features to be available in mid-2021.
Have a nice day,
Patrick -
