Not sure if this is the correct forum for this, but here goes.

I’ve been using WP for a number of years, but am new to BuddyPress and WPMU. I want to create a site using WP as a CMS, but with advanced visitor interactivity. I want users to be able to post their own photos and videos to the site on blog posts and in an events section. Is this possible with WP? Or does this require a custom CMS solution?

    Thanks!

Yes, users can upload own photos and videos and have events section using just plain WordPress. You can either have a single WordPress installation and have multiple authors OR create a WordPress Network and allow each user to have his/her own blog to do so.

What kind of advanced visitor interactivity do you want? Or do you mean interactivity among users within your WP or WPMS install?

If you want to allow your users to interact with each other in a social networking scenario, then install the BuddyPress plugin. If it’s just blogging then WordPress alone will do.

What I want is for site visitors to be able to upload their own files easily. I understand WP’s capabilities in terms of the backend admin/editor/author writing posts and adding content. I would like visitors to easily add their own media files throughout the site, such as adding photos/videos to comments or within an event listing. It needs to operate like a forum/social network throughout the site.

With BuddyPress is it possible to comingle blog posts, events and visitor interaction without the need for a specified forum page, say?
