    I would like to have certain post always remain on top in the category section.

    Right now when you post a new topic to a category, the newest post on is always the first listed when you go to the category.

    I have a few categories where I’d like some of the older post to remain on top of the

    Is there a way or a plug in available to order the post of a category.

    I’m not talking about category order… but the posts within the category.

    I hope I explained that clearly.

  • You’ll need to create a Category Template and use the template tag, query_posts() (actually a new WP_Query is better), to display whatever you want on top.

    Thanks for the feedback and links… however I’m not a techie person and those instructions go way beyond my comprehension.

    Are there any “dummy” down instructions or videos? or better yet a plug in?


    Look for the Custom Query String Reloaded plugin. That will allow you some control over the order for a particular category.

    doenst wp_sticky plugin help?

    Sticky is now built into WordPress 2.7, but sticky means sticky everywhere, even on the home page. If you want it sticky on a category specific page, then a category template is the simplest way to go.

    Thanks for the plug in suggestions so far the ones I found aren’t 2.6 or 2.7 compatible.

    I decide to create a page with the links to the posts I would want to always remain on top in a categories until I hire somebody to create and set up the category template.

    Glad to know some kind of option is available.
