@maurizioomissoni
I am currently looking also for an alternative.
Other translation plugins like qTranslate X have a simple free version but for the most common extensions you must also pay. My website is not commercial and I can not afford all of this.
I am rebuilding my website with a translation network on WordPress multisite. See plugin MultilingualPress
This looks hopeful so far.
From latest post I suppose they are looking for creating a paid version of this plugin.
I do not suggest to go for multisite better use another plugin such as free Polyglot or spend a little money and get WPML lifetime version.
It’s faster and more useful having two linked posts than two different sites.
Multisite is only advisable when your content differ a lot from one language to another.
In the while I’m still using qtranslate-x successfully with wp 4.7.2
@wocmultimedia
I understand what you mean but multiSite provides a lot more independence and does not unnecessary tricks with your tables. As a plugin is discontinued you still have two fully functional websites.
I agree with @wocmultimedia.
In my opinion QtranslateX is still the best plugin for running multilingual sites, even though it havn’t been updated for a while. I’ve made some small adjustments to the plugin, as the Yoast & the Qtranslate-X slug plugin wasn’t compatible anymore.
Guess someone have to fork the repo, and keep the plugin updated. There are great potential in the plugin tho 🙂
