i have buddypress installed on my website and i use it. i’m wondering if i can also use this plugin and they will have good compatibility? if so then should i make this plugin handle registration rather than buddypress?

okay i tried it out and this is very weird. it’s like both plugins are working the same angle but at the same time they don’t acknowledge the existence of each other. how can i properly utilize this plugin with bbpress? why is there absolutely no information on this issue even though buddypress is extremely popular and many users are likely to use these two plugins in conjunction?

    Hello @kibbles,

We don’t have an integration with BuddyPress for Paid Member Subscriptions.
We are looking to implement this in the future. It would basically allow you to restrict access to BuddyPress pages with PMS.

If you’re just looking to use them alongside each other, that should work right now.

how can i properly utilize this plugin with bbpress?
For bbPress there’s a paid add-on that you can use: https://www.cozmoslabs.com/add-ons/paid-member-subscriptions-bbpress/

i see. it still seems a little bit confusing so i have some questions. i want my website to be viewable by everyone but anyone who wants to make an account needs to subscribe and anyone who wants to subscribe needs to make an account. when they cancel the subscription the account is deleted and when the account is deleted the subscription is cancelled.

1: is it possible for this plugin to override and disable other methods of registering? for example, using the subdomain “wp-login.php?action=register” offers a secondary method of user registration rather than using the PMS registration page. this becomes a problem because the user bypasses other registration information fields and even the subscription.

    2. i noticed that this plugin is able to force users to select a subscription while registering, which is good, but is there a way to make the users’ account inactive or deleted when they cancel or abandon their subscription?

    3. what is the real difference between a user cancelling and abandoning their subscription? it says that if the subscription is cancelled then it will expire and no further payments will be made. if the subscription is abandoned then it will be removed from the account. aren’t these the same thing?

    4. i initially thought that the profile builder addon was a plugin that added extra functionality to pms in the form of an actual profile page and some other user functionality. i’m currently checking it out in the demo and it’s a little bit confusing. so far it seems to offer a lot of the same things that pms does. do these plugins have integration with each other?

    Hello @kibbles,

    1. Not at this time, adding a way to redirect these pages is on our features list.
In a not so distant version, we are also going to remove the requirement for the Anyone can Register option to be activated so our forms work. This will remove the registration page you mention.

    2. No, accounts are not deleted when subscriptions expire, our plugin doesn’t work that way.
As long as you restrict your paid content based on Subscription Plans (and not only the Logged in Status of the user) you won’t have any issues.
Users with Expired/Pending subscriptions won’t be able to access it, users with canceled subscriptions will be able to access until the Expiration Date has passed.

More info about Content Restriction is here: https://www.cozmoslabs.com/docs/paid-member-subscriptions/content-restriction/

    3. They are not. If the user Cancels the subscription, he will keep it and be able to access restricted content until the expiration date.
If the user Abandons the subscription, it will be removed completely from his account at that time.

    4. Profile Builder is a standalone plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/profile-builder/
The two plugins are integrated and the main point is form customization. You can build the form with Profile Builder and add a payment field coming from Paid Member Subscription: https://www.cozmoslabs.com/docs/paid-member-subscriptions/integration-with-other-plugins/profile-builder/

i see, thanks. also i notice that on the registration form for pms it asks for first name and last name. i don’t ask for this information if singing up through other means like the buddypress registration. if someone signs up from the buddypress registration are they still able to subscribe even though they did not put the first name and last name information required by pms? is there any way i can remove the requirement for the first name and last name like using that profile builder plugin for example?

    Hello @kibbles,

The First and Last Name fields in our form are not required, so even if users don’t fill them out they can register correctly.

Profile Builder is an option to remove them, but you can also just use some CSS to hide the 2 fields.

    Regards.
