    Hi,

I asked a question in this support forum:
    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/replace-title-with-logo-4?replies=10#post-6586456

And someone is answering but insisting that I contact him outside the forum or that I provide files from my blog, and I don’t think it’s appropriate or even necessary, considering the theme is part of the wordpress.org repository.

Would you be kind enough to let me know if this is appropriate or not? It certainly doesn’t feel like it.

The end result being that no one else got around to answer my query since it looked active because of this person.

    Thanks

    Marie

No, not really okay at all. Thanks for letting us know. I’ll warn him.

I would never send anyone files that i didn’t know. However, It is very common for people to post snippets of code from such files so that you are both looking at the same thing. His first comment is correct, though. Do you know html and css? You can simply insert an img tag to reference your logo where your blog title code would be(located within your header.php file on your server).

    Thanks Chitcher1,

I agree, but I could never figure out what to send since I had already explained my problem and the only confusion was what he called “css stuff” – which he never explained what he meant. A simple example would have been enough.

However, like I told him, I finally gave up and bought the Pro version, where that function exists in the Customizer.

Now I have a different css problem, but it’s up to the theme owner to answer my questions now 🙂

    Thanks

Chitcher1 – Sure except it was a flipping free theme on wordpress.org which made the request a little weird and suspect.

If MarieDi had been manually editing code directly into the theme (which you’d never do, because you all know it has to be a child theme for your sanity 😉 ) that would be different.

The issue is that once you take ‘help’ off the forums, no one learns anything 🙁 The next person to have the problem can’t solve it.

Yes, i would agree if the theme was a free one he could have simply downloaded the files himself. And yes, you are also correct in saying “making a child theme” would be the way to make your edits to any theme. And thirdly, i would agree that the topic in question should remain within the forum so that others can learn from your problem.

Thanks guys, I would have never edited anything except in my child theme (yes, I was on a child theme 🙂 ).
