I had to do a re-install of WP4 recently, and the site is operating just fine with a Woocommerce store. However, I realized that I had forgotten to add the secret keys in the wp-config file.

Obviously, I want to remedy this right away to avoid any security risk, but I just wanted to check and be sure that it won’t cause any problems with the online store or other existing content. Will the only side effect be that users will need to re-sign in? Thanks.

    No issue!
Just visit the WordPress key generator to obtain a new random set of keys. Then enter the values in your wp-config.php file.

Ok, thank you! So just to confirm, it won’t change anything within the theme or the store? It just resets the cookies on the site? Sorry, I get nervous when manually changing WP files, especially when it all has been built.

There could be issues with anything in people’s Woocomerce carts. WordPress will log them out and reset its own cookies, and if Woo cookies depend on WP’s cookies, carts could be lost.

Looks like all went just fine. The store is pretty new, so I don’t think the cart will be an issue, but I appreciate the warning. Thanks for the reassurance!

    Glad to hear that 🙂
