Support » Plugin: Postie » Is there a way to make footnotes when using Postie?

The IT person for my company recently installed Postie for me to post to our blog, but beyond that he doesn’t seem to know much about it. While I’ve figured out how to do a number of things with Postie, I cannot figure out how to make footnotes within a post using it.

Important info: There’s no chance I have anything but the basic plugin. I do not know if we are on the most up-to-date versions of Postie, WordPress, or any themes. I do not have the authority to update us if we are not.

    Thanks!

Footnotes is not a core feature of WordPress so you likely have a plugin installed that adds this feature. If you know which plugin it is I might be able to give you some guidance.

Oh, that’s embarrassing. I didn’t realize it needed a special plugin. (I’ve used WordPress on other sites & been able to do footnotes, so I thought it was part of the core.)

Given that, and given a quick look over the site’s plugins, I now realize I almost certainly cannot do footnotes at all, which means trying to figure out functionality in Postie is pointless.

    Thanks for the answer!

You still might be able to, I would just need to know which footnotes plugin you have installed.

I apologize. I am not being clear. I do not see any plugin on my employer’s site that will allow footnotes. This would have been the first post to use footnotes. The blog is not the focus for our IT guy, so he would not have thought to install such a plugin.

I can look at the plugins for one other site. I looked there, and honestly I cannot tell which one allows me to do footnotes there. Thus, unfortunately, I can’t even plan to ask him to install the one I know and tell you what plugin. I unknowingly asked something unanswerable, it seems. I apologize for that, but I’m grateful to learn more about what I’m working with.

If I do figure out how which plugin it is at some point, I’ll ask again. But I don’t want to further waste your time.

    Thanks again. 🙂

    No problem.
